Champion manufactures and distributes a leading sportswear brand. The company manages a large-scale operation supplying a wide range of men’s, women’s and children’s sportswear throughout Australasia.
The logistics of relocating a large-scale warehouse while maintaining continuity of product flow to customers is complex. It was essential that the relocation caused minimal disruption to customer service, enabling RMG to maintain operations throughout the project.
Unlike service-based industries, which can be more easily moved to new office locations, manufacturing and warehousing operations can be considerably more difficult and multi-faceted. They involve not only the relocation of bulk stock, line items and administration facilities, but the dismantling, transportation and reinstallation of racking and other warehouse components.
Champion needed to maintain operations throughout the relocation, making strategic planning a key element of the project. A dedicated Project Manager analysed all aspects of the move including office furniture and equipment, computer systems, racking and warehouse components, bulk stock and line items.
A comprehensive transition plan and master schedule was created which listed each task, timing involved and resources required to effect a seamless transfer to Champion’s new premises.
To ensure continuity of operations, the relocation was split into two parts, with the office and computer systems moving first, over one weekend. The warehouse chose to relocate using Atlantis’ integrated service. This enabled all warehouse stock to be systematically packed, transported and unpacked in one fluid operation, giving priority to high-demand stock.
Specialised labelling and coding systems, exclusive to Atlantis, enabled all items to be kept in sequential order. This reduced downtime to transit time only and allowed stock to be tracked and accessed if needed.
Purpose-designed equipment (crates, caged trolleys, and additional materials- handling equipment), allowed Atlantis to successfully pack, transport and relocate bulk stock, pick stock or line items, as well as pallet and flow racking, safely, securely and efficiently.
By partnering with Atlantis, Champion was able to maintain operations without ‘taking their eyes off the ball’ resulting in the smooth relocation of a large-scale operation with minimal disruption.

Strategic planning and a strong partnering relationship with an experienced relocation company were the primary factors that contributed to the success of our relocation.
Some of the other tenants in the industrial complex at Mascot laid bets that we wouldn’t be able to complete the move on schedule, but, with Atlantis’ help, we proved them wrong!
